joint formation |
When the bone fails to heal after a fracture, medical experts call
it pseudoarthrosis. It can lead to covering and displacement of the
fragments as well as possible deformation of the scaphoid bone. Scaphoid
bone pseudoarthrosis often results from poor supply to the scaphoid
bone vessel. The typical symptoms include pain, swelling in the soft
parts, obstruction when working and decrease in the wrist power.
To help you grab again powerfully, depending on the type of pseudoarthrosis,
various operations might be necessary to stabilise the scaphoid bone
and to restore its shape: among other things, here fragments are removed
and if needed any produced bone tissue is fixed with the Herbert screw.
Post-treatment includes approx. 4 to 12 weeks of rest depending on
the stability restored by the operation. |
