Hand signs
Human hands are a true artwork of nature: 27 bones, 40 muscles, nerves, perspiratory glands & Co facilitate numerous capabilities. Healthy hands enable a certain dexterity with more or less pronounced fingertip feeling, moreover, they are a "social tool".

Hands not only give away the real age, in addition, many illnesses of the body are made tangible here: Rheumatism is only one of the few examples. Even ailments like cardiac insufficiency leave behind signs that cannot be overlooked, e.g. wide, watch-glass like nails. Indeed hands too become ill. The individual structures of the hand - like bones, joints, sinews, nerves, blood vessels, skin and muscles - can stop functioning or are injured either separately on in a combination - the hand then loses its ability to move, its sensitivity and sense of touch.

The most important task of hand surgery is to restore and to get back the original mobility, power, stability and sensitivity of the hand. Modern operation techniques fortunately make that possible, even the fines nerves, arteries and veins can be reconstructed using microsurgery.
