Ears that stick out are to be corrected as early as possible. Many
children with ears sticking out suffer dreadfully due to jeers from
their peers, who could call them "Dumbo" or pull on the ears. Ideally,
such cases are to be treated before the child goes to school.
In ear correction (otoplasty), the cartilage is removed for decreasing
and thinning out the ear muscle. The existing cartilage tension is
removed through modelling and the ear cartilage is brought to the
desired shape. |
